Recap: Norris Titans vs. Bennington Badgers
The Norris Titans had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They walked away with a 68-59 win over Bennington. Given Norris' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Bennington is ranked 41st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Norris found their leader in underclassman Evan Greenfield, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Greenfield has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Macoy Folkerts, who scored ten points.
Bennington lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Austin Kaiser, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hudson Neuverth, who scored 15 points.
Norris' win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. As for Bennington, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
Norris won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bishop Heelan Catholic at 4:05 p.m. on January 20th. As for Bennington, they will head out on the road to face off against Elkhorn at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Averaging 68.1 so far this season, Elkhorn's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Bennington better be ready for a challenge.
