Kalamazoo Christian came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Calvin Christian Squires. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Comets also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Carien Ybema spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cecile Ybema, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Ellie Hoeksema was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Kalamazoo Christian pushed their record up to 20-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Calvin Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11-1.

Kalamazoo Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Squires: the pair will be back at it again later today.
