Hancock takes loss despite strong efforts from Aiden McCarty and Jordyn King

Recap: Hancock Panthers vs. Paw Paw Pirates

The Hancock Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They fell 67-58 to Paw Paw. While losing is never fun, Hancock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 292nd in Maryland, while Paw Paw is ranked 62nd in West Virginia).

Jordyn King and Aiden McCarty certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. King scored 14 points along with three steals, while McCarty scored 14 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points King has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Anderson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Paw Paw was led to victory by Greyson Corbett and Donavan Tanouye. Corbett dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Tanouye scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Tanouye is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Ayden Crabtree was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Hancock dropped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Paw Paw, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Hancock will head out on the road to challenge Faith Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Paw Paw, they will play host again and welcome Shanksville Stonycreek, where tip off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Christian Musser and Tanouye.
