Baseball Game Preview: Paramus Spartans vs. Hackensack Comets

Paramus is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Monday. They will be playing at home against the Hackensack Comets at 4:15 p.m. Paramus is looking for their season's first win.

Paramus Catholic hit Paramus with a four-run third inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans fell 10-7 to the Knght Paladins. On the bright side, the seven- run effort marked the Spartans' highest-scoring game to date.

Meanwhile, Hackensack scored first but ultimately less than Emerson in their matchup on Saturday. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 2-1. The contest marked the Comets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Luis Hernandez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Hackensack saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Darius Pemberton, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Pemberton is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Hackensack's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Paramus, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Paramus beat Hackensack 5-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
