Baseball Recap: St. Croix Falls Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

St. Croix Falls was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Ladysmith on Tuesday. The Saints were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Lumberjacks. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Saints considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Elliot Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Croix Falls let Brodie Allram and Alex Hoff run wild. Allram went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double, while Hoff scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. That stolen base was Hoff's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Drake Peterson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: St. Croix Falls kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ladysmith only managed five hits.

St. Croix Falls pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ladysmith, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
