Soccer Game Preview: Paramount vs. Warren

Paramount hasn't had much luck against Warren recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Paramount Pirates will host the Warren Bears at 5:15 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Paramount sitting on four straight wins and Warren on eight.

Paramount's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Verdugo Hills, sneaking past 1-0. The Pirates' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three contests.

Meanwhile, Warren won against Rio Mesa on Saturday with one goal and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Saturday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Warren who was credited with the victory. Warren got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Great Oak's one. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Wolfpack are ranked 234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Paramount's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Warren, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1-1.
