Softball Recap: Beaverton Has No Trouble Against North Salem

While Beaverton put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for North Salem. The Beavers blew past the Vikings 20-0. That looming 20-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Beavers yet this season.

Zinnia Berg and Addison Riedel made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Berg pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Riedel struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Berg has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Berg scored a run while going 1-for-4, while Riedel scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. That stolen base was Riedel's first of the season.

In other batting news, Amy Rusin was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. Those stolen bases were her first of the season. Kennedy Riedel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Beaverton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Salem, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beaverton will face off against Newberg at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for North Salem, they will take on Willamette at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
