Basketball Recap: Florida College Academy Takes a Loss

Florida College Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 47-25 to the Cypress Creek Coyotes . The Falcons were probably out for revenge after losing 44-24 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Willow Mullins was Florida College Academy's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Madeline Manaugh held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Deslynn Nickell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cypress Creek, going 8 of 15 on her way to 23 points and six steals. Nickell is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ameeya Steadham, who went 7 for 17 en route to 14 points along with seven boards and seven steals.

Florida College Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Cypress Creek, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-9.

Florida College Academy will venture away from home to square off against Cambridge Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Cambridge Christian: 27.5, Florida College Academy: 27.2) so any points scored will be well earned. Cypress Creek has already played their next match (against Wesley Chapel), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
