Given Elite's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while Leroy Greene Academy is ranked 991st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Elite's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lemack Bellot led the charge by scoring 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bellot has scored all season. Maisen McCleod was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.

John Adams Academy suffered their biggest defeat since December 18, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 66-45 walloping at the hands of Fortune Early College. John Adams Academy has not had much luck with Fortune Early College recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Elite is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for John Adams Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-17.

Everything went Elite's way against John Adams Academy when the teams last played on January 9th as Elite made off with a 71-45 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elite since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
