Volleyball Game Preview: Draper APA Eagles vs. West Panthers

The Draper APA Eagles are headed away from home for the first time to face off against the West Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Draper APA is headed out to face West after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Summit Academy last Tuesday.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Draper APA was: they took every set by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-5, 25-6, 25-14.

Draper APA can attribute much of their success to Paisley Le, who had six digs and five aces, and Evie Martinez, who had seven digs and one assist. That's the most digs Martinez has posted since back in September of 2024.

Meanwhile, West had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Cottonwood.

The match was exciting from start to finish, as three sets needed extra rallies to gain a two-point lead. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 31-29, 25-27, 26-24, 25-19.

Draper APA was able to grind out a solid victory over West when the teams last played back in September of 2023, winning 2-0. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
