Basketball Game Preview: Western Alamance Warriors vs. Voyager Academy Vikings

The Western Alamance Warriors will be taking part in a tournament against the Voyager Academy Vikings at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

Western Alamance is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since January 26th on Friday. They came up short against Orange, falling 73-48. The Warriors have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Voyager Academy waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They had just enough and edged the Patriots out 71-68. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since January 16th.

Voyager Academy's win came from a few key players Western Alamance will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was McKinley Hemsley, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Cameron, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 20 points and seven boards.

Voyager Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Voyager Academy pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for Western Alamance, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2.
