Football Game Preview: Sequoyah Indians vs. Chandler Lions

For the first time this season, Sequoyah will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the Chandler Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Chandler will be up against a hot Sequoyah team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Indians simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Keys 56-7. Fans of the Indians have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Sequoyah's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Crayton Sapp, who threw for 282 yards and five touchdowns on only 17 passes. Ridge Blackbear helped Sapp out on the ground, rushing for 144 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries.

Sequoyah was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 200 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chandler, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Clinton with a sharp 32-7 victory on Friday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Lions' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Sequoyah's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Chandler, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
