Softball Game Preview: Ashland Clockers vs. Westwood Wolverines

Ashland is 0-10 against Westwood since May of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Clockers will host the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m.

Ashland couldn't beat Dedham on Monday even though they stacked six runs on them in the third inning. The Clockers fell 12-9 to the Marauders.

Lorelai Collette made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ava Vendetti, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westwood). They put the hurt on Holliston with a sharp 30-11 victory on Monday. The Wolverines have beaten the Panthers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.

Westwood got a massive performance out of Mia French, who got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with five runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those five runs gave French a new career-high. Brooke Benger was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Westwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Westwood's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Ashland, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.
