Basketball Recap: Midland Valley Mustangs vs. Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles
Midland Valley won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were outmatched by the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles and fell 88-50. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the War Eagles are ranked 20th).
Gray Collegiate Academy was led to victory by Levi Ball and Lamont (Lj) Britt. Ball dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds, while Britt went 6 for 10 en route to 18 points along with six assists and six boards. That's the most points Britt has posted since back in November of 2024. Jayden Rowe was another key player, going 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points.
Midland Valley's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing North Augusta the next time they take the court. Midland Valley will head out to face North Augusta at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Gray Collegiate Academy will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
