Basketball Recap: Alice Coyotes vs. Bishop Badgers
The Alice Coyotes have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were outmatched by Bishop on the road and fell 97-54. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Alice in their matchups with the Badgers: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Alice still got an impressive performance from Calvin Villanueva, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Ryan Ynfante was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Alice has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 19-11 record this season. As for Bishop, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 23-9.
Alice will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cottonpickers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Robstown is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses. As for Bishop, they will head out on the road to face off against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tuloso-Midway will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 705th, while the Badgers are ranked 269th).
