Marion had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.4 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 66-50 victory over the Herrin Tigers. The Wildcats pushed the score to 58-33 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Marion got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cameron Curry out in front who went 7 for 10 on his way to 17 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave Curry a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Simmons, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Marion smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Defeat or not, Herrin got some senior leadership from Grady Cox and Kyrese Lukens. Cox posted 13 points and six boards, while Lukens put up 12 points.

Marion pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Herrin, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 19-5 record.

Marion will challenge Carbondale at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Marion has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 192 points over their last three matches. Herrin has already played their next contest, a 53-50 win against Vienna on the 4th.
