Volleyball Recap: Mishawaka's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

Mishawaka was the 3-2 winner over NorthWood when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cavemen took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers on Thursday. While the Cavemen didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 25-19 in the first set.

Mishawaka started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-21, 25-22, 27-25.

Ellie Adams paced Mishawaka's offense, picking up 23 kills. Adams got some help from Cassie Creech and her 36 assists. Ameila Amos controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

NorthWood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Presley Zehring, who had nine digs. That's the most digs Zehring has posted over her last six contests. Aveson Evers also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Mishawaka moved to 12-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for NorthWood, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Mishawaka has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Portage on the 20th. As for NorthWood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Chesterton on the 20th.
