Preview: Enderlin Eagles vs. Warwick Warriors
The Enderlin Eagles and the Warwick Warriors will round out the year against one another at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Enderlin and six for Warwick dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Enderlin, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-50 loss to Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Karson Gruba, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Preston Dawson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Even though they lost, Enderlin were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Warwick pushed their score all the way to 72 last Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 82-72 to Hatton/Northwood.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Elijah Feather Jr, who scored 29 points along with six steals and five rebounds. He scored a full 40.3% of Warwick's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Joramo, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds.
Enderlin's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-3. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Warwick, they have fallen quite a ways from their 19-9 record last season and are now at 0-3.
Wednesday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Enderlin have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Warwick struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 33.3 rebounds per game. Given Enderlin's sizeable advantage in that area, Warwick will need to find a way to close that gap.
Enderlin might still be hurting after the 75-51 defeat they got from Warwick in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Enderlin, Mark Fassett Jr (who scored 23 points along with nine assists and seven rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
