Baseball Recap: Carlson Has No Trouble Against Wayland

Carlson never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Wayland on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Marauders, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Carlson let Noah Borowski and Matthew MacBride run wild. Borowski went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while MacBride got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. MacBride is becoming a predictor of Carlson's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Salisbury, who earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.

Carlson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

The victory snapped Carlson's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-8 record. As for Wayland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carlson will challenge Erie-Mason at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Marauders are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Wayland, they will venture away from home to challenge Northview at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
