Softball Game Preview: Santa Fe Trail Chargers vs. Perry-Lecompton Kaws

The Santa Fe Trail Chargers will take on the Perry-Lecompton Kaws at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.

On Tuesday, Santa Fe Trail wound up with the same score they had in their last game (9-7), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Peyton Ganger was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kailyn Claypool, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Perry-Lecompton didn't have quite enough to beat Silver Lake on Tuesday and fell 10-8. The Kaws haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Paxton Damme made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Macie Corcoran was another key player, scoring two runs while going 4-for-5.

Perry-Lecompton's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Santa Fe Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Santa Fe Trail skirted past Perry-Lecompton 1-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Does Santa Fe Trail have another victory up their sleeve, or will Perry-Lecompton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
