Brother Rice waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the University of Detroit Jesuit Cubs with a sharp 13-1 victory. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 27, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Blake Ilitch looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Broder Katke was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Turner, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Brother Rice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as University of Detroit Jesuit only posted an OBP of .385.

Brother Rice pushed their record up to 17-10-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for University of Detroit Jesuit, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Brother Rice will square off against Huron at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for University of Detroit Jesuit, they will be playing at home against Royal Oak at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
