Baseball Recap: Brentwood School Comes Up Short

Brentwood School couldn't beat Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary on Saturday even though they stacked five runs on them in the sixth inning. The Eagles fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 9-8. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Brentwood School got a good showing from Owen Boelke, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the first time Boelke hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in April.

On the hitting side, Hudson Chase made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Brentwood School's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 7-10 when he doesn't). Dean Hoshide was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Brentwood School's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-12. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brentwood School will square off against de Toledo at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, they will take on Verbum Dei Jesuit at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
