Volleyball Recap: Hickman Takes a Loss

Hickman suffered their biggest loss since September 11th on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to the Eldon Mustangs. The Kewpies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While Hickman ultimately came up short, they really made Eldon work, particularly in the third set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-14, 26-24.

Eldon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaidyn Shelden led the charge by getting 16 digs and one assist. Shelden has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more digs the last four times she's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Hickman and nudges their season record down to 10-15-3. As for Eldon, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Hickman will take on Father Tolton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Eldon, they will face off against Helias at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
