Baseball Recap: Lawrence Academy Takes a Loss

Thayer Academy hit Lawrence Academy with a four-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans fell 7-4 to the Tigers. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lawrence Academy got a good showing from Milo Toettcher, who struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Those zero earned runs gave Toettcher a new career-low.

At the plate, Ryan Blaisdell made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Lawrence Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Thayer Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Lawrence Academy will take on rival St. Sebastian's School at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Thayer Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe Noble & Greenough at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.4, the Bulldogs 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
