Softball Preview: Knightstown Panthers vs. Tri Titans

The Knightstown Panthers will stay at home for another game and welcome the Tri Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Knightstown will be strutting in after a victory while Tri will be coming in after a loss.

Knightstown gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Winchester Community.

Jalyn Kopp was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Miller, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Tri came up short against New Castle on Wednesday and fell 8-4.

Lyla Williams was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Even though they lost, Tri didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 11 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Castle didn't tossed any.

Knightstown's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-11. As for Tri, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Monday's matchup will be a test for both team's pitchers. Knightstown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Tri struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
