Basketball Game Preview: Cummings Cavaliers vs. Southeast Alamance Stallions

The Cummings Cavaliers will face off against the Southeast Alamance Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Cummings had to suffer through a 49-12 loss at the hands of Northwood. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 454th, while the Chargers are ranked 105th).

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Southeast Alamance over Graham in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Southeast Alamance blew Graham out of the water with a 63-12 final score. The Stallions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 26 points or more this season.

Cummings better keep an eye on Shaniya Paylor. She was instrumental in Southeast Alamance's win, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine steals. That's the most steals Paylor has posted since back in January of 2024. Natalie Lopez was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

Southeast Alamance is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. As for Cummings, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Cummings was taken down by Southeast Alamance 58-18 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Paylor, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards.
