Soccer Game Preview: The Linsly School vs. Weir

The Linsly School hasn't had much luck against Weir recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cadets will venture away from home to challenge the Red Riders at 6:00 p.m. The Linsly School has given up an average of 5 goals per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

The Linsly School fell victim to Steubenville and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Big Red, falling 6-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as The Linsly School came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' soccer rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 49th in West Virginia, while Steubenville are ranked 146th in Ohio).

Meanwhile, Weir's match on Monday was close up to the half, but then they kicked things up a notch. Their defense stepped up to hand Cambridge a 5-0 shutout. It was an even better day for Madelyn Cramer as she scored three goals for her team.

The victory made it two in a row for Weir and bumps their season record up to 6-7-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those two matchups. As for The Linsly School, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

The Linsly School might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Weir in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Cadets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
