Baseball Game Preview: North Pike Jaguars vs. Franklin County Bulldogs

For the second straight game, North Pike will face off against Franklin County. The Jaguars will head out to take on the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in North Pike's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.

North Pike barely beat Franklin County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Jaguars put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 14-1 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Jaguars have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ty Jones and Peyton McGehee did most of the damage at the plate: Jones went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while McGehee scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. McGehee continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Leyton Henagan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

North Pike was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

North Pike pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Franklin County, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. North Pike has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Franklin County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
