Baseball Recap: Countryside Christian Wins Going Away Against Meadowbrook Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hawthorne, Countryside Christian was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Minutemen, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Jace Reustle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Erik Orozco, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eli Gruenwald, who scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Countryside Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive games.

Countryside Christian's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-4. As for Meadowbrook Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Coming up, Countryside Christian will look to defend their home field on Monday against Parsons Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. Meadowbrook Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
