Basketball Recap: Aubree Adams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Brunswick over Topsail

South Brunswick has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a hard 46-31 fall against the Topsail Pirates on Friday. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

South Brunswick lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aubree Adams, who posted three points and ten boards. Adams is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Meryn Deutsch was another key player, putting up ten points.

Topsail was led to victory by Riley Trimble and Ava Kita. Trimble dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards, while Kita went 5 of 10 on her way to 12 points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Trimble has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Lambert, who had six points along with seven assists and six rebounds.

South Brunswick's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Topsail, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.

South Brunswick didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-34 defeat against Laney on the 7th. As for Topsail, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 55-25 loss against Hoggard on the 7th.
