Softball Game Preview: Myrtle Beach Seahawks vs. Goose Creek Gators

The Myrtle Beach Seahawks will take on the Goose Creek Gators at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Myrtle Beach is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Waccamaw. That's two games in a row now that the Seahawks have lost by exactly two runs.

Madison Ashmore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Myrtle Beach saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Autumn Chapman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Goose Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 17-9 to James Island.

Jaionna Wheatley was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Emery Gandolfo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Myrtle Beach's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Goose Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-2.
