Basketball Recap: Daniel Gronewoller Key Part of a Team Effort in Cardinals Win

After losing to Cedaredge the last time they met, Grand Valley decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Grand Valley Cardinals secured a 58-52 W over the Cedaredge Bruins on Friday.

Grand Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Gronewoller led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Gronewoller is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last six games he's played. Porter Ostermiller was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Grand Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Several Bruins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rylan Brooks, who posted 18 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Levi Maxey, who had ten points.

Grand Valley's record is now 5-9. As for Cedaredge, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-9.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Olathe the next time they take the court. Grand Valley will head out to face Olathe at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Cedaredge will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st.
