Baseball Recap: Aliquippa Comes Up Short

Aliquippa extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 27 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-13 in the process. They lost 29-1 to the Freedom Area Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 last Monday.

As for Freedom Area, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Freedom Area's part, Nick Fessler was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave Fessler a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Colton Blank was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Anthony Taddeo was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs and three RBI.

As of now, neither Aliquippa nor Freedom Area have any future games scheduled.
