Basketball Recap: Chevak Skates Past Alakanuk with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chevak). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging an 80-34 victory over the Alakanuk Braves. The Comets pushed the score to 59-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Braves had little chance of recovering from.

Leading Chevak to victory were Laiton Pingayak and Ian Chayalkun. Pingayak posted 25 points, while Chayalkun earned 22 points. With that strong performance, Chayalkun is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was Anthony Martins, who had nine points.

Chevak's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Alakanuk, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

As of now, neither Chevak nor Alakanuk have any future games scheduled.
