Softball Game Preview: Jones Trojans vs. Needville Bluejays

For the second straight game, Jones will face off against Needville. The Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bluejays at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Jones is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Needville 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Maya Castillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jones' victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Medellin, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Jones' win bumped their record up to 11-16. As for Needville, with the loss, they broke their 18-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-5.
