Baseball Recap: St. Anthony's Takes a Loss

St. Anthony and St. John the Baptist squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but St. Anthony's had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Friars have lost by just one run.

C.J. Alfano was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Anthony Carlo, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Anthony's and nudges their season record down to 14-9-1. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for St. John the Baptist, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-8.

As of now, neither St. Anthony's nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
