Basketball Game Preview: North Garland Raiders vs. Wylie Pirates

North Garland is 0-10 against Wylie since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The North Garland Raiders will take on the Wylie Pirates at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

North Garland will bounce into Friday's match after beating Garland, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. North Garland walked away with a 55-46 victory over Garland on Tuesday. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 602nd, while the Owls are ranked 1273rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Wylie came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the Raiders 59-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since November 21, 2023.

Wylie has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for North Garland, their victory bumped their record up to 12-13.

North Garland came up short against Wylie in their previous matchup back in January, falling 68-58. Can North Garland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
