Baseball Game Preview: Ashland Grizzlies vs. Churchill Lancers

The Ashland Grizzlies will head out on the road to take on the Churchill Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ashland will be strutting in after a victory while Churchill will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Ashland turned things around against Eagle Point on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Eagles 9-7. The Grizzlies' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Cobain Taylor, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Kai Smith was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Churchill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thurston.

Churchill's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Ashland, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-4.

Ashland was able to grind out a solid victory over Churchill when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 6-2. Will the Grizzlies repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
