Football Recap: Vero Beach Indians vs. Homestead Broncos
Vero Beach was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 42-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Homestead Broncos.
Vero Beach's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Champ Monds, who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown, and Jahnard Young, who rushed for 59 yards and three touchdowns. Monds got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 51 yards. Vero Beach also got help from Xavier Stinson, who showed off his sure hands for 114 receiving yards.
Vero Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Homestead, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vero Beach will head out to challenge Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Homestead, they will face off against Southwest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
