Softball Game Preview: Lely Trojans vs. Everglades City Gators

Lely is a perfect 3-0 against Everglades City since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Trojans will head out to challenge the Gators at 7:00 p.m. Everglades City took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Lely, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Lely got the win against Dunbar by a conclusive 18-1. The game marked the Trojans' most dominant victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Everglades City came up short against Southwest Florida Christian on Monday, falling 13-3. The loss continues a trend for the Gators in their meetings with the King's: they've now lost six in a row.

Everglades City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayde Freeman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Freeman is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another was Ava Ramos, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Lely's win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-13. As for Everglades City, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Everything went Lely's way against Everglades City when the teams last played back in March of 2022, as Lely made off with a 16-6 victory. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Gators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
