There's no place like home for West Johnston, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past the Southern Wayne Saints 65-44 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wildcats have posted since February 6, 2024.

Among those leading the charge was Chase Gilmore, who posted 16 points and five rebounds. Caden Hartman was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Southern Wayne lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaden Hardy, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds. Hardy's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kairell Evans, who scored ten points and seven boards.

West Johnston's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-8. As for Southern Wayne, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

West Johnston has already played their next contest, an 81-41 defeat against C.B. Aycock on the 14th. As for Southern Wayne, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-50 victory against Smithfield-Selma on the 14th.
