Baseball Recap: Benton Takes a Loss

Benton lost against Northwest Area back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Benton fell just short of Northwest Area by a score of 4-3. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Rangers since on Monday.

Layne Latorra made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Latorra is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Benton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Northwest Area, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Benton will be playing at home against Columbia Montour Vo-Tech at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Benton is facing Columbia Montour Vo-Tech at the right time seeing as Columbia Montour Vo-Tech is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Northwest Area, they will head out on the road to face off against Sullivan County at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
