Softball Preview: Redmond Panthers vs. Bend Lava Bears
Redmond is 2-8 against Bend since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Panthers will take on the Lava Bears at 4:30 p.m. Redmond has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It was a proper cat-fight when Redmond faced off against Mountain View on Tuesday. The Panthers lost 14-5 to the Cougars. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Bend was able to grind out a solid win over Caldera on Tuesday, taking the game 14-9. The victory continues a trend for the Lava Bears in their matchups with Caldera: they've now won seven in a row.
McKenna Nye was incredible, firing off two home runs and seven RBI while going 4-for-5. Those home runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Sandgren, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Nye wasn't the only one making solid contact: Bend kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
