Softball Game Preview: Redmond Panthers vs. Bend Lava Bears

Redmond is 2-8 against Bend since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Panthers will take on the Lava Bears at 4:30 p.m. Redmond has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Redmond faced off against Mountain View on Tuesday. The Panthers lost 14-5 to the Cougars. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Bend was able to grind out a solid win over Caldera on Tuesday, taking the game 14-9. The victory continues a trend for the Lava Bears in their matchups with Caldera: they've now won seven in a row.

McKenna Nye was incredible, firing off two home runs and seven RBI while going 4-for-5. Those home runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Sandgren, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Nye wasn't the only one making solid contact: Bend kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Redmond's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Bend, their record is now 4-6.

Redmond might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Bend when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
