Basketball Recap: Encinal Skates Past Orland with Ease

It's playoff time, and Encinal had no trouble coming through when it counted. They really took it to the Orland Trojans for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-32 victory. 67 seems to be a good number for the Jets as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Encinal had a senior duo take command as Jazzy Alcantar dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds and Surina Castro went 8-for-17 to rack up 19 points. That's the most points Castro has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Honor Phillips, who earned five points and seven boards.

Encinal's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points over those games. As for Orland, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-9.

Looking ahead, Encinal will be playing at home against Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Orland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
