Yerington had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over the Dayton Dust Devils. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Valor Angle made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Angle was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colby Rowe, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Aiden Nelson was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Looking ahead, Yerington will square off against Sparks at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Dayton, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Pershing County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
