Baseball Game Preview: Hernando Tigers vs. Starkville Yellowjackets

The Hernando Tigers will square off against the Starkville Yellowjackets at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Hernando will be strutting in after a victory while Starkville will be coming in after a defeat.

Hernando not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 27, 2024. They blew past Biloxi 10-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Luke Romine was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Brannan Overstreet, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Starkville might've scored the first runs on Monday, but it was Vancleave who claimed the real prize. Starkville lost 16-8 to Vancleave. The Yellowjackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bradley Cohen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Marcus Hendrix, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The win got Hernando back to even at 6-6. As for Starkville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Hernando beat Starkville 5-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Hernando repeat their success, or does Starkville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
