Softball Game Preview: Anahuac Panthers vs. Kirbyville Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Anahuac Panthers duke it out with Kirbyville Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Anahuac 3.9, Kirbyville 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Friday just wasn't the day for Anahuac's offense. They fell 4-0 to Orangefield on Friday. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Anahuac saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keeley Butler, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Butler hit this season.

Meanwhile, Kirbyville put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Friday. They never let Hardin get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by eight runs or more this season.

Kirbyville is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. Anahuac's loss dropped their record down to 13-3-2.
