Softball Game Preview: Cactus Cobras vs. Westview Knights

The Cactus Cobras will head out to take on the Westview Knights at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Cactus will be strutting in after a win while Westview will be coming in after a loss.

On Wednesday, Cactus made easy work of Cortez and carried off a 12-1 victory. Considering the Cobras have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ciara Anthony made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Rhyan Enos was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Mia Turner was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Westview's offense. They came up short against Cactus on Tuesday, falling 25-0. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The win made it two in a row for Cactus and bumps their season record up to 9-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Westview, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Everything went Cactus' way against Westview in their previous meeting on Tuesday, as Cactus made off with a 25-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cobras since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
