Basketball Recap: Mart's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Mart entered their contest against Live Oak Classical on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Mart Panthers fell 30-17 to the Live Oak Classical Falcons. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Live Oak Classical's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Stella Sriram, who posted six points and three steals. Sriram is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Miriam Carl, who put up four points and seven rebounds.

Mart's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4. As for Live Oak Classical, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 12-5.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Mart Panthers take on the Moody Bearcats at 12:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Live Oak Classical, they will venture away from home to square off against First Baptist at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in First Baptist's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
