Softball Game Preview: Gustine Reds vs. Modesto Christian Crusaders

The Gustine Reds will head out on the road to square off against the Modesto Christian Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Gustine has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Gustine lost 18-5 to Stone Ridge Christian on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Reds in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost five in a row.

Shandel Aguilera and Jacqueline Chavez did some serious damage despite the final result: Aguilera went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double, while Chavez scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaclynn Lopez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Modesto Christian's offense. They came up short against Delhi on Friday, falling 13-0. The Crusaders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gustine's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Modesto Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything went Gustine's way against Modesto Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2019, as Gustine made off with a 12-1 win. Do the Reds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crusaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
